Date Versus Notes

v. Cape Fear

Needing a win to advance to the final 4, Cape Fear came out very strong and pressured TFC into some early mistakes. Some great goal keeping kept the score 0-1 in the 1st half. In the 2nd half the defence tightened up and Navy started to pour it on generating a few scoring opportunities occured, the best by Shae who was denied a breakaway by a great effort from the Cape Fear keeper. Final 0-1

May 14th v. CASL Elite A windy day for the rematch from Jefferson Cup. CASL had the wind in their favor the 1st half and took advantage of it. TFC was on their heels most of the 1st half but it was not until the final 5 minutes of the half that they surrendered a goal. In the 2nd half, the momentum totally changed and TFC dominiated the 1st 10 minutes. However, it was not until the final 10 minutes that Lauren hit the crossbar on a direct kick and Kelsey was able to head in the deflection to tie up the game. TFC fought off CASL and a last second corner to secure the tie. Final 1-1
May 7th v. Coastal Crew Navy had their work cut out for them facing the State Champs and having 2 players unavailable and another at 50%. . It took the Crew mid way through the 1st half to get their 1st goal on a break away. With strong defense and solid play in goal, it was not until half way in the 2nd that Navy gave up a 2nd goal, but by that time they showed great poise in keeping possesion and getting a number of really good scoring opportunities (some of the best by Meredith and Shea),. Navy finally gave up a 3rd at the very end of the game after a rough take down. Depsite the 0-3 loss, Navy looked very good against such a highly rated opponent. Great play by the whole team. Final 0-3
April 30th v. USA Tsumanis Play in game for the state cup meant win or go home. USA took advantage of an indirect kick to score in the 1st 2 minutes of the match. At about the 15 minute mark, Frank fought to keep a ball alive in the offensive 3rd and fed it to Shae who set Meredith up for an open shot from 18 yards-Meredith drilled one to the corner. Later in the half Meredith netted a 2nd from 25 yards. The rest of the game was scoreless although Andie had a few near goals. Great win for the whole team, and a particulary great game from Gonzo. Final 2-1
April 17 v. CASL Premier Always an anticpated match, the final game of the regular season saw a scoreless 1st half followed up by an offensive power play in the 2nd. Morgan started the scoring as she broke through 2 defenders and score one on one with the keeper. Shae had the 2nd goal which was nearly identical from Morgan's. Gonzo had the third as she ripped a shot to the corner (her header that nearly went in was even better) and finally Allison placed a shot to the corner off an absolutly perfect pass from Staci. Premier scored in the last 5 minutes of the game off a corner kick. Strong play at midfield really made for a terrific finish to the season. Final 4-1
April 16 v. MSC Another windy day which made it difficult to move the ball effectively. MSC played well and forced Lindze to make a few good saves. Scoring came from Kelsey on a Corner Kick from Shea. The 2nd goal came from a PK caused by a pass from Frank that sent lauren into the box where she was fouled then coverted the PK. Final 2-1
April 10 v. FCCA FCCA started strong and really preasured the Navy team. With "blistering" defence by Taylor, Navy kept them scoreless until they got on track. Early in the 2nd half, Navy got on the board when Gonzo chipped a ball to Lauren who took the big hop and headed it for a goal. Later, Andie fed Lauren on the wing for her to put a bullet to the back of the net from about 25 yards out. The final goal came when Shae put a shot on goal where a deflection from the keeper was batted around and finally in as Andie provided pressure in front of the goal. With the win Navy clinched 1st place in the First Division. Final 3-0
April 9 v. FVAA Another very windy day. Navy started stong controlling the play and picked up a goal from Lauren on the wing. FVAA tied it up soon after despite working against the wind. Later in the 1st half, Morgan collected a loose ball at the 18 and stuck it in the goal. In the 2nd, Meredith led Molly with a super pass to the wing where she somehow managed an imposible angled shot that went in. The final goal was a PK from Shea after Andie drew a foul in the box. Final 4-2
April 3 v. N. Meck Heat A combination of a 2 week layoff and a 20 mph wind led to a slow start. After weathering a few Heat offensive charges (mostly by great D. from Hannah), Navy faught back to get a 1st half goal from Molly assisted by Lauren. The 2nd half was scoreless and windy. Final 1-0.
March 20: Jefferson Cup v. CASL Elite A much anticipated semi-final match was evenly played through the 1st half of play. All of the girls played extremely hard versus the top 4 state opponent. Neither team had any really good opportunities until the start of the 2nd half when a rare defensive miscue led to an ELITE goal. Despite a couple of opportunities, Navy was unable to score but showed they can compete at the Premier level. Final 0-1
March 19 : Jefferson Cup Richmond Strikers Orange A rematch from last weeks tie at the Chesterfield Tournament. After a physical 1st game, Navy was bit tired and had to battle to keep the game scoreless into the 2nd half. In the 2nd half, Lauren placed a direct kick at the top of the box for Molly to run onto and strike perfectly for the winning goal. Final 1-0
March 19: Jefferson Cup v. Berks SA Destroyers The 1st Jeffersons Cup match was against the PA State Cup semi-finalist. After a scoreless 1st half, Frank released a ball out of the back line to Lauren who beat a player and fed Andie in stride who got off a clear shot that hit the inside of the far net. Lauren added another later in the half, assisted by Kelsey. Overall, Navy played very strong and controlled most of the play. Final 2-0
March 13: Chesterfield Tournament Richmond Strikers Orange The final sunday game was versus Richmond Strikers Orange. where they again Navy struggled to put the finish despite a number of good chances. It was finally Helen that tied the game. Final 1-1
March 12: Chesterfield Tournament SOCA Extreem The afternoon game was v. SOCA Express. Again, Navy gave up and early goal but had a ton of 2nd half chances including a couple of near goals by Molly and Shea but none would go in . Final 0-1
March 12: Chesterfield Tournament N. Steele Navy's first game in the Chesterfield tournament was versus Northern Steele from PA. The 1st half was played with snow flurries and featured a physical Northern Steele team that scored early. In the 2nd half Navy played much better and had a number of scoring chances but it was Gonzo's redirect that tied the game. Final 1-1
March 5, 2005 v. Gaston Blue Navy started strong in a windy match. Andie scored early but there were a number of other 1st half opportunities as well. In the 2nd half Lauren hit the cross bar on a direct kick but then scores came from Shea, Meredith and finally another from Shae. The game featured a strong defensive effort from 1st time defender Helen as well as active and supporting play from Molly and Frank. Overall a much better effort and a good win. Final 4-0.
Feb 26, 2005  v. PSA  PSA started well and out played TFC in the 1st half. In the 2nd half PSA scored early. Lauren evened the match soon after on a direct kick that hit the side post. A fast paced final 20 minutes saw many opportunities for TFC including a number of mini break aways by Molly. It was not until the final 20 seconds that Lauren won the game on a direct kick. The match also saw great defensive play by Taylor. Final 2-1
Feb 20 v. CSC White A quick start saw TFC score 2 in the 1st 7 minutes (Andie & Meredith). Unfortunately, the day was cold and wet which dampened play. Gonzo had a 2nd half goal and the team was happy to get out of the rain with a win. Final 3-1
Feb 19 v. Char. United Gold After a long winter break the girls got off to a strong start against Charlotte United Gold. Having added a new player, the girls started strong and scored off an absolutely beautiful goal by Meridith whose header off a corner kick was redirected in for a score. Late in the 2nd Kelsey added the insurance goal. The defence of Hannah , Alex and Taylor as solid as they allowed almost nothing through to Lindze. Allison also had a pretty goal called back for offsides which would have capped a great day for her on the field.. Final 2-0
Nov 7 v. VA Rush Nike The final game of the shootout was against a very talented VA Rush team. Despite many VA opportunities, TFC kept it scoreless through the 1st half with tough defending and steller work in goal. Early in the 2nd, Rush scored and then had one more in the 2nd half. Despite the loss, the team really showed their grit on the field. Given the high seeding and the injuries, the team really should be proud of the result. Final 0-2
Nov. 7 v. Diadora Impact Since TFC had already qualified for the finals, they seemed to take the morning off. A less than spirited game by TFC finally resulted in a Diadora score in the 2nd half. The lone TFC highlight was another fantastic save by lindze. Final 0-1
Nov. 6 v. Tophatters Early in the game, Lauren scored on a direct kick. Meredith hit the crossbar soon after. Outside of that, the Tophatters had the best of the play. Strong defending and goal keeping helped keep the Tophatters scoreless through the 1st half. With about 7 minutes left, the Tophatters had a sure goal on a break-away. Had it not been for the heart-stopping save lindze made as she was able to snatch the ball from the attackers feet just befor she passed, the game would have ended in a tie. Fortunately the team pulled out the win. Final 1-0.
Nov. 6 v. Richmond Kickers The 1st game in the CASL shootout was a rematch from over the years. Today, Shea had the first goal which held up through the 1st half. Mid way in the 2nd, TFC gave up a goal on a communication break down, but a direct kick score from Lauren cemented the win Final 2-1
Oct 31 v. CASL Premier With two players on crutches and down 0-2 after the 1st half, TFC looked to be beaten. However, the girls came out of the half time break fired up. TFC scored 2 times in the 1st three minutes of the 2nd half (Meredith and Lauren). Soon after Shea broke free for the go ahead goal beating two players near mid field. Strong play continued as Lauren netted 2 more (assisted by gonzo), Andie had 1, and Molly 1 (assisted by Allison). While the offense was scoring the defense also tightened up with the whole squad pulling out an exciting come from behind victory. Final 7-2
Oct 30 v. MSC TFC, after almost scoring in the 1st 3 minutes, waiting until half way through the 1st half for Meredith to score on a header off a corner kick. MSC tied it up and in the 2nd half, MSC took the lead. Lauren again tied it converting a cross from gonzo. In the final 10 minutes of the game, TFC had many opportunities created from Molly, Shae and Allison. Finally, with 2 minutes to go, Frank took a long shot that hit the cross bar. Final 2-2
Oct 16 v. CUFC Gold Having lost to CUFC 2 times last year, the team came out ready to play. Early in the 1st half, Morgan stuffed in a direct kick from Lauren to go up 1-0. Ten minutes later Meredith played a perfect ball to break Andie free versus the keeper. Andie put away the ball for the final goal of the game. Near the end of the match, Lindze had to make a hard slide tackle to save a goal and Frank needed a final burst to stop the CUFC striker from getting off a shot in the box. The strong and gusty wind kept both teams off balance but Navy prevailed. Final 2-0
Oct 3 v. CSC White  Plenty of early opportunities but it was the pass that Morgan played to Molly who split the defenders and put the ball in front of the goal for Shae to redirect in. Later in the 1st half, Frank played a nice ball over the last defender for Allison to run onto an score. In the 2nd half Meredith coverted a corner. The defensive play of the day was probably Taylor's slide tackle to ward off a sideline drive. Final 3-0
Oct 2 v. N. Meck Heat  A "grind it out game" that featured 2 great shots from Lauren. But, it was the combination pass that went from Andie to Morgan to Molly who chipped in a goal in the 1st half that proved to be the game winner. Near the end of the 2nd half, it was Lindze who provided the critical save as she came out to defend on a loose ball in the box. Final 1-0
Sept 26 v. PSA PSA scored very quickly but Navy tied it before halftime. Scoring came from Andie (assisted by Lauren's cross after a long drive up the field), Morgan (assisted by Shea's corner kick which nearly went in and 2 from Molly (one assisted by Frank). It is worth noting that Gonzo scored on a breakaway that was called back for a questionable offsides call....but who ever questions the refs?? Final 4-1
Sept 25 v. FVAA Having never beaten FVAA, the girls came out with emotion but were unable to score early. Midway in the 1st half Frank assisted Lauren on a great goal that came from 20 yards and ended top corner. The remained of the game was scoreless but saw great defense by Taylor and all around strong play from Molly. Final 1-0
Sept 12 v. Gaston United A scoreless 1st half featured many good opportunities and sold defending by alex, taylor, frank, staci and hannah. Despite controlling the play, it was not until the 2nd that Shea ripped a shot from the wing that TFC got on the board. United countered with a corner that made it in. Near the mid point of the half, Meredith blasted a 30 yard goal and then Allison capped it off with a redirect in front of the goal. Final 3-1
Sept 11 v. FCCA Red  A rematch from last week. This time TFC had to come back from a 0-1 deficit. Meredith got the 1st goal from inside the 15 yard line. The defense held while the offense got it going. Andie provided the 2nd goal off a tap from Lauren which she redirected in. Molly almost had one from the wing but it hit the cross bar. Finally Shae did net one. Final 3-1
Sept 5  CSA Cobras  The team finished the Greensboro tournment taking on CSA. TFC got down early. They nearly scored in t the 1st half on a corner but went into the break down 0-3. In the 2nd, TFC again nearly scored on a corner but nice work by a CSA defender kept the ball out of the goal. Final 0-3.
Sept 4 FCCA Red  The team came out strong as Morgan scored on a cross in the first 5 minutes. Shea made it 2-0 with a break away that she finished. Late in the 2nd half Meridith capitalized on a corner kick. Final 3-0.
Sept 4 Herdon Stinger  Down 0-2 after the 1st half, the girls came out with life and generated a number of opportunities in the 2nd. However, It took a corner from Shea that drifted into the far corner for TFC to get on the board. Late in the 2nd, Shea nearly tied the game with a shot that was just wide. Final 1-2.
Aug 22 Coastal Crew The 4th meeting in 1 year was not a close as the state cup game. The Crew looked good in a 0-4 loss. TFC nearly scored on a solo effort in front of the goal by Kelsey. The game did feature a handful of great saves by Lindze. Final 0-4
Aug 22, 2004  Hamilton S. Air Chargers  No scoring in the 1st although Taylor nearly redirected a corner. In the 2nd Gonzo stuck one and Frank had a mini break away and beat the keeper-putting the ball in the corner. Final 2-0
